This showcased event has concluded.
Astrophotography is gaining in popularity, and this workshop is your chance to jump in and discover the pleasure of capturing the awe-inspiring beauty of the Milky Way. All you'll need is your DSLR camera, a tripod, warm clothes and a sense of adventure!
In this workshop focusing on creating nightscapes, you'll join internationally published astrophotographer and experienced tutor Joe Cali for an intensive but accessible hands-on workshop. You'll consider how to compose after-dark landscapes and skyscapes, explore practical aspects of night shoots, such as forecasting clear skies and staying comfortable during long shoots, and experiment with capturing striking stills, star trails and panoramas. You'll no doubt also have lots of opportunity to discuss the wonder of the galaxy.
The workshop comprises four 1 hour Zoom sessions, followed by the opportunity to join your fellow astro-photography enthusiasts for a weekend overnight field trip. You'll journey to spend the weekend at 34 South, tutor Joe Cali's private 'dark sky' property halfway between Young and Cowra (about 1 3/4 hours drive from Canberra).
For this workshop, you'll need basic to intermediate photography skills, including a good working knowledge of your camera controls and any associated equipment. If you're not sure about your skill level or whether your camera equipment is suitable, please contact us in advance of booking to discuss.
