Join jeweler Alice Whish at Gaffa for a jewellery studio workshop. Through the act of play we will renovate your jewellery box- discovering what you love to wear- repair- treasure and discard. We will use the items to inspire a new jewellery piece to make and design on the day. ‍You will need to select 6 to 10 pieces of your jewellery to bring to class (maximum)- a photograph of valuable jewellery items- or bring the cheapies and come and play.‍What might you take home at the end of the day:Cleaned and repackaged jewellery treasures- ready to store or give away.Repaired items if possible (earrings- brooches etc)A new item made from broken jewellery pieces-and orA design for a new piece of jewellery you would like to own- reusing part of something you brought to class. Knowledge required: Desire to restore your jewellery collection to a wearable state- no skills required.Due to social distancing regulations we are limited to allow 4 persons max in each of our classes. ‍It's important that all students wear face masks during classes when possible and have their own workshop apron. We ask that you remain home if you are unwell or- if in the last 14 days- you have experienced cold or flu symptoms- have returned from overseas or have been to or had contact with someone from a COVID hotspot.

This course is suitable for students who have completed a beginners class or have some prior knowledge of jewellery making.The course is set at your own pace- allowing you to work on your own designs and projects under the supervision of a tutor. Advanced techniques may be demonstrated- which could include metal inlay and granulation.Felix Gill is a graduate from Enmore Design Centre and from The Sydney College of Arts- where he studied jewellery and objects. An exhibiting contemporary jewellery practitioner- Felix will guide you through your projects- assisting with technics to achieve your outcomes.Covid-safe measuresDue to social distancing regulations we are limited to allow 4 persons max in each of our classes. Priority will be given to students already enrolled in prior to lock-downs and class allocation will then be first in- best dressed basis. Schedules and classes have changed slightly. This unique 9-week course combines the 2 disciplines of drawing and sculpture in a friendly and accessible studio environment. This class is conducted within Covid-19 safe guidelines with student numbers limited and physical distancing implemented. The health of our students is a priority in the delivery of this course.Instruction in classic and contemporary sculpture- such as clay modelling and carving- is provided. Instruction will be provided in figure proportion- capturing volumes- rendering portrait features and observational drawing skills. Ideas can then be transferred to sculptures which display the acquired skills.No previous experience required. Beginners welcome.Tools provided. Clay can be purchased at venue.

Sharon Hayes has been teaching singing for the City of Sydney at the Reginald Murphy Centre in Kings Cross on Fridays for 4 years and the Harry Jensen Centre in Millers Point for one term on Tuesdays.  It has brought a lot of joy to the community. New friendships have been made along with learning how to sing correctly. The students are very pleased with their progress.  Sharon was sponsored to sing solo by 'The Metropolitan Room' NYC 2012-2014- she is on iTunes and sings professionally. Sharon also teaches privately and is currently working on a new album. She teaches scales for 30 minutes then each person has the opportunity to sing 1 or 2 songs- which she work on with them to bring out the best. Gallery NTK conducts art classes for children with an emphasis on various techniques in painting and drawing. We are the multi-award-winning- longest-running art school in the Inner West.All classes will run for a 10-week term and are facilitated by acclaimed professional artist and highly qualified visual arts teacher Norma Tahhan. Norma holds a Master's in Fine Arts and Master's in Art Education.Students are encouraged to further develop their artistic and creative skills in various painting and drawing media and develop their creativity through expert tuition. This will include sketching- watercolour- charcoal- chalk and oil pastel- acrylic painting and oil painting. This course is designed to help you get the most out of your DSLR or Compact-System camera.Camera Craft 1 will help develop your creativity while teaching you how to use your camera in full manual mode. Learn about the fundamental creative principles of photography and how these principles relate to your camera's functions in a series of informative lectures. Each week- you'll be given a practical assignment- the results of which will be reviewed in the following class.You'll also be encouraged to discuss historical and contemporary images with your classmates- which will help develop your understanding of exposure- subject and composition.This course is for those wishing to build a solid foundation in photography or who plan to continue developing their photographic skills at ACP. Participants should expect to bring their assignments as 4x6 prints each week.This course runs at the same time on the same day- every week over 5 weeks with a maximum class size of 8 participants.Prerequisites and RequirementsThis course requires no previous experience.Bring your own DSLR or Mirrorless (MILC) camera (charged batteries and memory card). The racialised narrative surrounding Covid-19 has sparked a surge in racial abuse targeting People of Colour.Whether it's a new poll finding almost one third of Australians blame the Chinese community for the pandemic. Or a study by the Migrant Worker Justice Initiative revealing a quarter of Australia's international students faced racial abuse during the pandemic. Or an Asian Australian Alliance survey collecting more than 500 stories from people of colour of coronavirus-related racial abuse within a few months.People of Colour are experiencing a surge of racially motivated attacks. That's why we're launching regular Resisting Racism workshops to further equip People of Colour with the skills- strategy & community to be powerful changemakers.This free 3 hour interactive online workshop will cover the fundamentals of advocacy for people of colour- including:Campaign strategy: what is a campaign- campaign strategy overview- how to create a winning strategy- difference between strategy & tacticsStrategic communications: messaging- framing- communication frameworksOrganising: building power through peopleDigital: using digital tools to create changeSelf-care techniques to deepen personal resilience to racismParticipants will leave with the foundational tools to change hearts- minds- public policy and corporate behaviour in a moment of increased racial abuse targeting People of Colour.This workshop is free and open to people who identify as First Nations- Black or a Person of Colour.Special thanks to the City of Sydney whose generous support has made these workshops possible.
